Looking back at 2015 we are so amazed by the support of our friends and community and how many incredible opportunities we’ve had to share our music with you in our beautiful county and beyond.
2016 is shaping up be another year of huge growth and change for The Bootleg Honeys. After some deep soul searching, our sweet Hannah has decided to go in a different direction. We support her choice wholeheartedly and can’t wait to see where her path takes her. It has been a spectacular three years of adventures, music and friendship for our band, and although we are sad to see this chapter end, we are pretty darn excited to see where the next one takes us.
We have a wonderful cast of singers including Karen Joy Brown, Shawna Miller and Crystal McDougall (also longtime friends/soul sisters) who will be filling in for the time being. In addition to continuing our acoustic female trio, we are also excited to keep on developing the full Bootleg Honey Band sound. If you were at our “Paint It Red” album release show or our last Twin Oaks show, you know what we’re talking about! We love seeing our fans hit the dance floor and can’t wait to see you all twirling and boot-stompin’ this coming season 🙂
On behalf of Hannah and the whole band, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support and genuine love you have given us right from the start. Here are a few parting words from Hannah. See you in the sunshine, Bootleggers!
The Bootleg Honeys
After three wonderful years with the Bootleg Honeys my musical path is taking a new direction and we will be parting ways. I welcome this journey that will allow me the time to pursue some personal and musical goals. It has been an amazing experience working with these talented ladies and I will always treasure being a part of something so unique. I will be accompanying them on a couple out of town ventures this month, and will be playing a special farewell show on March 5th at Subud Hall in Sebastopol (more details soon!). All my love and gratitude to my Sonoma County sisters, Katie and Alison and of course to all our dedicated fans!
What a year! 2015 brought so many great things to The Bootleg Honeys of which we are tremendously thankful for. We met and heard so many amazing new artists, got to know our hometown crew even better, and played over 50 venues, events, festivals and parties across the Bay Area and beyond. Thank you to everyone who faithfully supports live original music, we couldn’t be doing this without you!! Here’s to a healthy and prosperous 2016 for us all!!

Opening the night will be Dirty Cello, lead by the captivating Rebecca Roundman on vocals and cello, and joining us on drums will be our favorite engineer and co-producer Mark Tarlton!
Very excited to be returning to our favorite honky tonk, Twin Oaks, for a Halloween Eve Bash with our dear friends The Highway Poets, and Frankie Boots kicking off the night with a very special solo set. Come dressed to impress as there will be a $100 prize for the best costume and a $50 prize for the runner up!
UPDATE: Wow!!! What a crazy fun night! Seriously one of our favorite shows to date!
Well it was bound to happen sometime. Got a flat heading home from our gig in St Helena last week. Lucky for us Alison isn’t afraid to get a little dirty! Long story way short, we got the tire off but couldn’t quite get the spare on. Even luckier for us there was an ex-tow truck driver cleaning the carpets at the hotel across the street from where we broke down. He got the spare on in approximately .005 seconds and we were on the road again. Never a dull moment with the Honeys!
Photo by Jason Baldwin Thank you, Peacetown! Thanks to Jim Corbett and the Mr. Music Foundation for having us, and a HUGE thanks to the amazing crowd who so generously showed their support and enthusiasm for our music. Sonoma County, you really do such a wonderful job of supporting artists!
In other news, we were back in the studio this week, this time with Doug Jayne of the Last Record Store and KRCB, to contribute a track to his awesome Sonoma County Covers project. We didn’t think twice when choosing one of our favorite tunes, The Money, a song written by local honky tonk heroes, The Easy Leaves. Yesterday we went on over to Doug’s Jackalope Records recording studio in Santa Rosa and cut our very own version of this killer song. Can’t wait to share it with you all! We’ll keep ya posted on the release.
We did it! 4 days and a lot hard work later, The Bootleg Honeys are finished recording our first full length album of original songs. Thank you so much to our family, friends and fans for all the support throughout this process, we really couldn’t be doin’ this without ya. Huge thanks to engineer/producer/drummer Mark Tarlton for hosting us at his studio and for bringing his expertise and creativity to our project. We are SO excited to share this record with you all. Over the next few months we will be sure to keep everyone posted on the upcoming release. Here are a few shots from the studio:
