As we welcome the new year we are continuing to experiment in the studio while recording a brand new single (shhhhh we’re also secretly working on a whole bunch of new tunes!).

While the world seems a bit upside down these days, we feel so lucky, now more than ever,  to be making music we believe in with folks we care about.  Whatever 2017 may bring, let us all  remember to listen and to always be kind. <3

Holy Moly!  We are SUPER excited to announce that The Bootleg Honeys are one of five recipients of Creative Sonoma’s Next Level Grant!  This grant includes $2500 towards a specified project as well as 10 hours consultation with industry professionals.  This is such an awesome opportunity for us to grow and learn, and we are beyond thankful for the chance to take our project to the “next level” 🙂

With the funds from the Next Level Grant we will be able to update all of our promotional materials (pictures, website, press kit etc) AND to record a new single to showcase our new band!  Last year we recorded our debut album, Paint it Red, over four days at our drummer Mark Tarlton’s studio in Rhonert Park.  It was an amazing experience and definitely a bit of a whirlwind!  We are really looking forward to approaching this recording process with an expanded timeline and budget, which will allow for much more experimentation and creativity!  Once we are finished with the single we will hold a release party TBA.  So stay tuned!!

Fellow grant recipients include these great up and coming Sonoma County artists:  The Easy Leaves, Black Sheep Brass Band, Ismay, and Shuan Hunter.  Be sure to follow Creative Sonoma and Next Level to keep up with all the cool stuff they are doing to support the art in our community.

We look forward to sharing updates on this process as we go along and can’t wait to see what the next chapter of the Bootleg Honey story looks (and sounds) like!

We are really, REALLY excited for the upcoming season of gigs and events!  Check out all the happenings HERE!

BLH BW Twin Oaks

Thank you to Jason Baldwin for all these great shots from Twin Oaks!  Thanks as well to the fellas from Mr. December for opening up the show!  Gotta hunch this summer is gonna be fun 😉

tiny_desk_Karen_solo_220We are so excited to announce the newest member of The Bootleg Honeys, Karen Joy Brown!  And what a JOY she truly is!   Karen brings a beautifully soulful, rich voice to the band and has a stage presence that can’t be beat!  Plus she’s completely hilarious and can do a very solid Mick Jagger dance, so really what more could we ask for?  Welcome, Karen!  We are so lucky to have you in the Bootleg fam.

We are also so pleased to welcome back the unmatched Mark Tarlton on drums.  If you’ve ever seen Mark play, you know what a uniquely talented drummer he is and the special kind of magic that he brings to The Bootleg Honeys.  As many of you know Mark is also an engineer and producer, and was our guiding light on the production of Paint It Red, which we recorded at his private studio in Rohnert Park.

Thank you so much to all of our supporters for hanging in there with us while we grow.  We can’t wait to share this new line-up with you all!  See you on April 9th at with the NEW Bootleg Honeys at the NEW Twin Oaks Roadhouse!

Please join us as we say farewell to founding Bootleg Honeys member Hannah Jern-Miller.  We will be joined by drummer and Paint It Red engineer/co-producer Mark Tarlton on drums, with special guest Sebastian Saint James opening the show with a solo set of his original tunes.  Can’t wait to share this special night with you all!

Dear Friends and Fans of The Bootleg Honeys,

Looking back at 2015 we are so amazed by the support of our friends and community and how many incredible opportunities we’ve had to share our music with you in our beautiful county and beyond.

2016 is shaping up be another year of huge growth and change for The Bootleg Honeys.  After some deep soul searching, our sweet Hannah has decided to go in a different direction.  We support her choice wholeheartedly and can’t wait to see where her path takes her.  It has been a spectacular three years of adventures, music and friendship for our band, and although we are sad to see this chapter end, we are pretty darn excited to see where the next one takes us.

We have a wonderful cast of singers including Karen Joy Brown, Shawna Miller and Crystal McDougall (also longtime friends/soul sisters) who will be filling in for the time being.  In addition to continuing our acoustic female trio, we are also excited to keep on developing the full Bootleg Honey Band sound.  If you were at our “Paint It Red” album release show or our last Twin Oaks show, you know what we’re talking about!  We love seeing our fans hit the dance floor and can’t wait to see you all twirling and boot-stompin’ this coming season 🙂

On behalf of Hannah and the whole band, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support and genuine love you have given us right from the start.  Here are a few parting words from Hannah.  See you in the sunshine, Bootleggers!

The Bootleg Honeys

After three wonderful years with the Bootleg Honeys my musical path is taking a new direction and we will be parting ways.  I welcome this journey that will allow me the time to pursue some personal and musical goals.  It has been an amazing experience working with these talented ladies and I will always treasure being a part of something so unique.  I will be accompanying them on a couple out of town ventures this month, and will be playing a special farewell show on March 5th at Subud Hall in Sebastopol (more details soon!).  All my love and gratitude to my Sonoma County sisters, Katie and Alison and of course to all our dedicated fans!

Until next time,

What a year!  2015 brought so many great things to The Bootleg Honeys of which we are tremendously thankful for.  We met and heard so many amazing new artists, got to know our hometown crew even better, and played over 50 venues, events, festivals and parties across the Bay Area and beyond.  Thank you to everyone who faithfully supports live original music, we couldn’t be doing this without you!!  Here’s to a healthy and prosperous 2016 for us all!!
