Very excited to be returning to our favorite honky tonk, Twin Oaks, for a Halloween Eve Bash with our dear friends The Highway Poets, and Frankie Boots kicking off the night with a very special solo set. Come dressed to impress as there will be a $100 prize for the best costume and a $50 prize for the runner up!
Well it was bound to happen sometime. Got a flat heading home from our gig in St Helena last week. Lucky for us Alison isn’t afraid to get a little dirty! Long story way short, we got the tire off but couldn’t quite get the spare on. Even luckier for us there was an ex-tow truck driver cleaning the carpets at the hotel across the street from where we broke down. He got the spare on in approximately .005 seconds and we were on the road again. Never a dull moment with the Honeys!
Photo by Jason Baldwin Thank you, Peacetown! Thanks to Jim Corbett and the Mr. Music Foundation for having us, and a HUGE thanks to the amazing crowd who so generously showed their support and enthusiasm for our music. Sonoma County, you really do such a wonderful job of supporting artists!
In other news, we were back in the studio this week, this time with Doug Jayne of the Last Record Store and KRCB, to contribute a track to his awesome Sonoma County Covers project. We didn’t think twice when choosing one of our favorite tunes, The Money, a song written by local honky tonk heroes, The Easy Leaves. Yesterday we went on over to Doug’s Jackalope Records recording studio in Santa Rosa and cut our very own version of this killer song. Can’t wait to share it with you all! We’ll keep ya posted on the release.
We did it! 4 days and a lot hard work later, The Bootleg Honeys are finished recording our first full length album of original songs. Thank you so much to our family, friends and fans for all the support throughout this process, we really couldn’t be doin’ this without ya. Huge thanks to engineer/producer/drummer Mark Tarlton for hosting us at his studio and for bringing his expertise and creativity to our project. We are SO excited to share this record with you all. Over the next few months we will be sure to keep everyone posted on the upcoming release. Here are a few shots from the studio:

For the past few months we have been very busy finishing up our live Tribute to Kate Wolf album, playing all kinds of local gigs and, perhaps most importantly, preparing to record our very first full length album of original songs!
When we formed The Bootleg Honeys in 2012 we all came equipped with a large stockpile of songs we had each written over the years. Since then we have added quite a few more songs to that cache, both individually and as a group. The time has come to get these tunes out into the world, and we really couldn’t be more excited about this next step in our creative journey together
Huge thanks to all our supporters, and specifically to the folks who made it out to our fundraiser at the Gypsy Cafe back in February. We couldn’t be doing this without ya!
We are back from another incredible Kate Wolf Music Festival and once again we are beaming with the love and support we received throughout the weekend. Thanks so much to Cloud Moss and crew for continuing to create a one of a kind music festival experience for music lovers and musicians alike! It was a true honor to perform Kate’s songs along side so many talented artists with so much history and respect for Kate.
We are also very excited to have our first run of Bootleg Honeys merchandise! We have women’s shirts (S-XL), hats, and adorable baby onesies (6mo)! Time to make it official! We are so pleased to announce the upcoming release of The Bootleg Honeys’ Tribute to Kate Wolf, Live at the Gypsy Cafe. On February 21st, 2015 we spent a sold out evening sharing our music with 60 of our closest supporters. Along with a set of our original tunes, we also played a set of some of our favorite Kate Wolf songs. Engineer and drummer (and Katie’s sweetie pie), Mark Tarlton recored the show on a four track Zoom recorder to serve as a memento of the night, but when we heard what he had captured we knew we couldn’t keep it to ourselves.
There was some magic in the air that night at the Gypsy Cafe and we are so excited to share this special live record with you. Our official release will be at this year’s Kate Wolf Festival in Laytonville. For more information on this year’s festival please follow this link: 2015 KATE WOLF MUSIC FESTIVAL. If you would like to pre-order your copy of The Bootleg Honeys’ Tribute to Kate Wolf please feel free to email us at email@example.com. Thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm for our project! See you soon!
May is only about half way through, and yet we can honestly say that this has been one of our favorite months in Bootleg Honey history!
We kicked things off with a crazy fun night at the Mystic Theatre opening for Grammy nominated, 5 piece, all lady bluegrass band, Della Mae. Not only did they blow us away with their music, but they also happened to be some of the sweetest gals on the planet. Super inspiring to see these women living their dreams. Can’t wait for them to come back through the North Bay!
We followed up our night at the Mystic by skipping across the bay to Berkeley’s Monkey House with our pals, Spark and Whisper, who we met at last year’s Kate Wolf Festival. Singer songwriter Ira Marlowe hosts this intimate, primate themed venue where we had an absolute blast sharing our original tunes with some truly delightful folks. We also ate some really great Thai across the street
Fast forward to this Mother’s Day weekend, where all the Honey’s mamas (and Alison’s daughter too!) were in attendance for our return to the Marin County Mart’s Folkish Festival. We also had the great privilege of performing at the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma on Saturday for one of the most attentive and friendly audiences ever! We are already planning our next show at this beautiful church.
Feelin pretty lucky to be spending so much time sharing our music and being with the folks we care about most. It’s a Bootleg love fest!
Della Mae is a kickass all lady bluegrass band hailing from Nashville, TN, and we couldn’t be more excited to be joining them on May 1st at Petaluma’s Mystic Theatre! All three of us grew up seeing some of our favorite artists perform at this beautiful historic venue and we are absolutely thrilled to be returning. Check out our Upcomin’ Shows for ticket information.
